What are mini sites / micro sites?

Micro-sites (or mini-sites, satellite-sites, sub-sites, lite-sites, etc) can fulfill a number of different roles depending on the purpose they were created, their purpose is usually to advertise or promote a certain facet of a business, however if you only sell a few products a micro-site may be sufficient for your entire business.

Generally a micro-site would contain fewer pages than a normal website (commonly around 4 - 6 pages) it may either have a very simple (almost standardised design applied to a number of different microsites) or conversely, a large multinational business may adopt an all-singing all-dancing micro-site with games for it's new brand of washing up powder.

How can mini sites / micro sites help my business?

Although flash-based games may be a fancy way of selling washing up liquid, we realise most businesses do not have a budget which enables them to plough tens of thousands of pounds into online extravagences, with little hope of financial return. On the other end of the scale, a business can acquire a micro-site with very little up front investment.

The micro-site can be produced inexpensively by following a pre-defined design and can promote either a number of your products directly (without necessity for another website) or the micro-site may be designed to work in tandem with your current website to maximise sales opportunities
